Welcome

The Thoracic CT course is designed to help you develop a systematic method of reviewing thoracic CT scans.

The course teaches fundamentals of CT imaging and diagnosis in common respiratory disorders. The course is taught with a mixture of lectures, and hands-on experience using dedicated workstations (over 200 cases).

This course will help you to gain a systematic review of cases, and recognise signs that would led to a disease diagnosis.

Over the 2 days, the following topics will be covered in both lectures and practical workshops:

  • Understanding CT imaging technique

  • Cross sectional thoracic anatomy

  • CT signs in chest imaging

  • CT assessment of:

  • Lung cancer diagnosis and staging

  • Interstitial lung diseases (including pulmonary fibrosis, sarcoidosis, occupational lung disease)

  • Airways diseases (COPD, small airways disorders)

  • Infectious disorders

  • Thromboembolic diseases (acute and chronic)

The course is aimed at respiratory (and other clinicians) and radiologists with limited thoracic CT experience who would like to broaden their knowledge of cross sectional CT imaging of the chest. The case mix allows access to different level of case difficulty addressing the presence or lack of candidate’s experience in thoracic CT imaging. The course is useful for respiratory and radiology SpRs in lead up to exit exams.
